Over the past three decades, the Arctic ice cap has shrunk by a size equivalent to six Californias. This is a major problem, because the polar bears live on sea ice. If we, as a people, don't take action now, the polar bear will b e extinct by 2050, in Alaska. Under the Bush administration, polar bears were given limited protection. Now under the Obama administration "Interior Secretary Salazar cut the polar bear's lifeline by adopting a Bush era policy that prevents the government from using vital Endangered Species Act protections to save the polar bear from the two deadliest threats it faces: global warming and Arctic oil development." (stated in article)
The NRDC is litigating to stop this illegal act that is detrimental to the polar bears.

i theink we should try to help them before they die. but what else could be done to help them other than whats been done by organistion that save the polar bears
ReplyDeleteWell, if awareness for the cause against their extinction is raised, them more and more people will fight for the cause. The number of people will only grow exponentially, if one person tells two people and those two people tell four people, then thus starts the exponential growth.
ReplyDeletewell yeah but what could they do to help
ReplyDeleteThey could petition for the stopping of Obamas plan, and save the lives of many.
ReplyDeletewell why dont people try to put a stop to his plan so he cant harm the polar bears ,or dont the people have a say in this
ReplyDeletePeople are trying, but the voice of the people is little in comparison to the voice of the government.
ReplyDeletei can see why because the govt is way more inpotant then the voice of the people that are trying to help save the polar bears
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a sad sight to see, knowing that they will not be here for much longer, we need to start now to help their cause.
ReplyDeleteyes we do but how do we get involved when we cant be heard because our voices is little yet
ReplyDeleteWe need to join our voices together to create a larger more powerful voice.
ReplyDeletewell yeah but how can we do that if not evryone has the same opion as we do what if they dont care what happens
ReplyDeleteWe need to advertise our opinion, and make others advocate the idea as well.
ReplyDeleteyeah but the real question is would you really do that because i know i couldnt i would be scared to voice my opion because when i do that now no one raelly listens
ReplyDeleteOther people have the same opinion as you, so your voices combined will be bigger then one single voice.
ReplyDeleteExcellent comments ladies and gentlemen...I would like to bring in a thought about global warming and the extinction of species. Is global warming really all its cracked up to be or has the media blown it out of proportion? Historical data shows that global warming is cyclic and extinction of species is a natural process. Change is inevitable and species of animals must adapt or die...it sounds harsh but it is a fact of life. I would like to hear your comments on this side of the issue...I would also like to see a link or two to an article(s) that support this flip side.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the media has blown this issue out of proportion. This idea of going "green", is just a scam to make money. see this link ( http://www.prisonplanet.com/ipcc-scientists-caught-producing-false-data-to-push-global-warming.html ) the link talks about how false information has been passed of to make global warming a serious issue.Al Gore is a prevalent figure in my mind, he is one of the major advocates of this idea that global warming is a problem that we can fix. but like you said change is inevitable. and I advocate the concept of "survival of the fittest" so yes, animals die that are not fit for the changing environment, and this is a fact. It's sad but true.
